Phoenix Series

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

phoenixlogoThe Phoenix Series, presented jointly by Main Line Unitarian Church and St. David's Episcopal Church, provides a public forum for discussion of critical issues, celebrating the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity with the motto, “Building the Human Community with Peace and Justice.”

The series was established in 1996 to commemorate a special relationship between the sponsoring churches that began in 1990 when fire destroyed the Unitarian church. St. David’s rector, Steve Jacobs, walked up the street while the fire was still smoldering and offered the use of his church for as long as necessary. For two and a half years during reconstruction, St. David’s provided its Unitarian neighbors with a place for worship and work.
