Rev. Morgan McLean of Main Line Unitarian Church recently visited MusicWorks in Havertown, PA to present a donation in the amount of $1,811 as part of the church’s Offering Outreach campaign, which directs half of the congregation’s Sunday collection to a different charitable organization each month.
Rev. McLean met with MusicWorks Executive Director Lori O’Leary, who explained the mission of her organization.
“MusicWorks provides music therapy services to all kinds of individuals throughout the Delaware Valley who might be challenged by autism, special needs, illness, or aging,” O’Leary said. “Grant funds awarded from MLUC will allow us to provide financial assistance to children or young adults who do not qualify for medical assistance programs in the state of Pennsylvania.”
The music therapy sessions take place at the treatment center on West Chester Pike, where volunteers and visitors are always welcome. Visit www.musicworkswonders.org to find out more.
Main Line Unitarian Church Offering Outreach recipients are nominated by members of the congregation and selected by a committee. Selections are often coordinated with themes of sermons, educational programming, or service opportunities at the church. A list of past recipients is available on the church website at www.mluc.org/social-action/offering-outreach.
