Final Words from Haiti

It was the lights of Miami that told me our trip was over. The lights I didn't take for granted, and that seemed so richly abundant—excessive and wasteful, even—after a week spent in Haiti’s Central Plateau.
 
The plane ride allowed for some time to take stock of the past three days. None had the emotional rawness of Wednesday, but they continued the work of understanding this place and its people—and made me aware of how much I have to learn and experience.

Last weekend at the Living Our Mission Summit, more than 60 members of this congregation began the process of imagining a bold future for our church, grounded in our mission.

Background

During the 2015-2016 Church year, Main Line Unitarian Church experienced vacancies in three senior staff positions: the head of Child and Youth Religious Education, the Director of Administration, and the Associate Minister. In response, MLUC’s Board of Trustees raised a Staffing Task Force to evaluate the Church’s needs, consider various staffing options, and prepare a recommendation for how to respond to these vacancies.
